"It's not what people remember about you, it is about what people remember about Christ from you." This quote came from a talk given at a Kairos retreat that I attended this past April and is the motto that I try to live by each and every day.
Greetings all! My name is Kevin Kubat and I am the newly hired Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization! I am so excited to begin my ministry here at the Catholic Parishes of Virginia and Mt. Iron. While I do not have as an extensive history with this parish as my wife Alison does I am familiar with it. We were married here back in August of 2012 and I have been to numerous masses and gatherings.
I am so blessed to be given the opportunity to be here to not only help you grow deeper in your faith but also in mine. Ever since high school I have felt a calling to participate deeper in my faith life. Being here is the perfect place for me to continue my ministry and to serve the church and our Lord Jesus Christ to an even greater capacity.
As I mentioned, my wife Alison and I have been married for almost three years and we have a 9 month old son, his name is Caleb. We moved up from the St. Paul area a week ago and have loved getting to know everyone thus far, as well as the area a little better. I grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa and attended St. John’s University in beautiful Collegeville, MN. I was a swimmer my entire life and finished my career as a swimmer at St. John’s. When I graduated in 2009, I moved to Owatonna for a year and worked for an insurance company. Following a short stint there I found my true passion was working with youth. I went back to school for my teaching license and taught middle school social studies at Hope Community Academy in St. Paul for a year. Most recently I was a youth minister at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague and loved working in the church setting.
When I have free time you can usually find me hanging out with my wife and son or following the Iowa Hawkeyes. I am a HUGE college football fan so if you see a guy walking around with an Iowa t-shirt on it will be me.
I am very much looking forward to beginning my journey here in Virginia and Mt. Iron. If you find sometime over the next month or so and want to stop over in the offices I will be here! Feel free to call or shoot me an email anytime! My door is always open and I look forward to serving each and every one of you to the best of my ability. Please continue to pray for me and our parish!
